PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately examining onset risks of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and onsets and a test reagent used for the same. SOLUTION: A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) present in a human ZNF512B gene is identified to relate to ALS. It is found that onset risks and onsets of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis are accurately examined by checking the single nucleotide polymorphism. A single nucleotide polymorphism present in a ZNF512B gene is analyzed on a base of a knowledge and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is examined on a base of an analysis result.
