PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold evaluation about a partial area of a photographic image with a simple operation. SOLUTION: Partial areas in an image are specified, and rating information indicating, for example, failure or success in photography is set by the partial areas and is recorded, in association with the image. For example, a digital camera reads the image from a recording medium and reproduces the image, and enlarges and displays a part of the image by using a zoom function. The enlarged and displayed partial area is specified as an object to be given the rating information.
