<p>The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for processing a three dimensional (3D) image, capable of simultaneously acquiring a color image and a depth image. The apparatus for processing the 3D image includes: a photodetector including a first sensing part to sense a visible light belonging to a visible region of a light spectrum and to sense an infrared light belonging to an infrared region of the light spectrum from a predetermined subject, and a second sensing part to sense an infrared light belonging to the infrared region of the light spectrum; an image processing unit to extract information of a color image from the first sensing part during a first time and to extract information of the depth image from the second sensing part during a second time; a 3D image realizing unit to realize the 3D image of the subject based on the extracted information of the color image and the depth image; and a controller to control the photodetector, the image processing unit, and the 3D image realizing unit.</p> |
