The present invention relates to an antimicrobial agent containing an organometallic compound including zinc and iron as an active ingredient and a method for preparing the same, the method comprising the steps of: (a) dissolving 1-3 parts by weight of an organic acid based on 100 parts by weight of water to form a dissolved matter; (b) putting zinc and iron in the dissolved matter at concentrations of 1000~3000 ppm and 10000~30000 ppm, respectively, to form a composite; (c) reacting the composite at 50-60°C for 48-72 hours to form a reaction material; and (d) obtaining the reaction material, followed by purification. The antimicrobial agent prepared by the method is applied to mammals, thereby exhibiting a function as organic antibiotics.
