<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a crystal of suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid (SAHA) which induces selectively final differentiation of neoplastic cells, termination of cell growth and/or apoptosis and is a histone deacetylase inhibitor effective against cancer, with the crystal being high in bio-availability.SOLUTION: A method of producing SAHA in a crystal includes (a) a step of reacting suberic acid with aniline to form suberanilic acid or its salt, (b) reacting the suberanilic acid or its salt with methanol to form methyl suberanilate, (c) a step of reacting methyl suberanilate with hydroxyamine hydrochloride to form crude SAHA and (d) a step of recrystallizing the crude product of SAHA from a methanol/water mixture.</p> |
