PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transgenic rice conducted to genetic engineering which increases rice yield by increasing grain size, grain weight or grain number per panicle because the grain weight and grain number per panicle are important factors affecting crop production.SOLUTION: The present invention provides protein OsXCL relating to grain shape and leaf shape of rice, its derived protein and their coding genes. Transgenic rice over-expressing OsXCL gene presents phenotypes as increase of grain length, grain weight and number of grains per panicle, and leaf rolling and so on. The present invention also provides a method of increasing rice production using a transgenic plant obtained by transforming the coding gene of OsXCL or its derived protein into an objective plant. |
