PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow stacking of articles transferred by an intermediate conveyer in a confluent conveyer. SOLUTION: The article transfer device 1 includes: two first and second intermediate conveyers 5A, 5B disposed in parallel with each other for transferring articles 2; a confluent conveyer 6 disposed between the first and second intermediate conveyers 5A, 5B; and first and second transfer means 7A, 7B transferring the articles 2 on the first and second intermediate conveyers onto the confluent conveyer 6 by pressing the articles 2. When the first intermediate conveyers is provided so that its transferring face is positioned above the confluent conveyer and the second intermediate conveyer and the second transfer means provided to the second intermediate conveyer transfers the articles 2 onto the confluent conveyer, the first transfer means provided to the first intermediate conveyer transfers the articles 2 onto the upper stage of the articles 2 that are transferred onto the confluent conveyer by the second transfer means.
