[Class 53.] Separators; electrodes.-A storage battery is provided with separators composed of nitrated cotton fibre paper, and the separators or the electrodes or both are formed with projections or recesses to provide passages for the flow of liquid and gases in two directions inclined to one another. The separators may be in the form of sheaths 26 enclosing the electrodes and they may be nitrated by the process described in Specification 357,550, [Group IV]. Fig. 4 shows an electrode which may be used with the separator comprising a number of corrugated areas 13. The electrode may alternatively be corrugated all over in two directions inclined at an angle to one another. Specifications 357,504, 357,506, and 357,507 are also referred to. |
