An electro-optical connector assembly comprises a first data connector 86 on a first device and a second data connector 80 on a second device 72 for communicating data through free space between the first and second devices. A first power connector 88 is arranged on the first device and a second power connector 78 is arranged on the second device providing wireless power transfer between the first device and second device. The assembly may be used to connect hard disc drives 72 to storage or test system. The assembly may provide a contactless connector to isolate vibration caused by the disc drive. The power connectors may comprise an inductive power coupler coil and may have engaging shock absorbing material. The optical data couplers may have an optical waveguide terminating in a beam expanding lens. The data and power connectors may be provided on an integrated connector dongle 84.
