PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension fluctuation absorber able to restrict fluctuations in belt conveyance speed due to external force while realizing stable conveyance of an endless belt, a belt drive device, belt unit, and image forming apparatus that are equipped with this. SOLUTION: The tension fluctuation absorber comprises: a press-in roller 102 provided in contact with the endless belt, configured to press it in, and rotated following this; a fly wheel 124 fixed on the same axis as the press-in roller 102, and configured to apply inertia moment; bearings 110 located at both axial ends of the press-in roller 102 and including an inner race 104 fixed on the press-in roller 102, and an outer race 106 supporting the inner race 104 so that the inner race 104 is freely rotated; a support member 112 supporting the outer race 106 such that the outer race 106 is pressed in toward the belt; and connection members 122 connecting two support members 112 or outer races 106, located at both the axial ends of the press-in roller 102, on the opposite side to the contact side of the press-in roller 102 with the belt.
