The present invention relates to a method of making a spacer tube for a multiple glazed unit, and the spacer unit itself, in which the spacer tube comprises a body and a cavity formed within the body, wherein the body comprises a plastic material and the cavity contains a moisture absorbent at least partially encapsulated in a matrix and wherein the spacer tube is made by mixing the moisture absorbent with the matrix material and then; i) co-extruding the mixture with the material making the body of the spacer tube, or ii) extruding the material making the body of the spacer tube to form the body and injecting the mixture of the moisture absorbent and matrix into the cavity of the body.
