摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder material for catalytic carriers, which is based on ceria nanoparticles each having <20 nm average particle size and a rectangular parallelepiped shape, and to provide a method for producing the powder material.SOLUTION: The powder material based on the ceria nanoparticles each having <20 nm average particle size and the rectangular parallelepiped shape is obtained by carrying out a mixing step of mixing cerium salt with ammonia water to obtain a mixture and another step of synthesizing ceria nanoparticles from the obtained mixture by a hydrothermal synthesis method. In order to obtain the ceria nanoparticles each having <20 nm average particle size and the rectangular parallelepiped shape in high yield, it is preferable that a mixing ratio of the cerium salt to the ammonia water at the mixing step is 60-270 in terms of the molar ratio of an ammonia molecule (NH) to a cerium atom (Ce).
