The invention relates to a control for a fuel injector having a control sleeve (25) delimiting a pressure chamber (26; 26') and movably supported in the longitudinal direction thereof. The control sleeve (25) has a sealing surface (27; 27'; 27'') on the front side thereof, said surface working together with a valve seat (28; 28'; 28'') configured on a valve body (5). In the valve body (5), a recess (24; 24') is designed in the side of the valve body (5) facing the pressure chamber (26; 26'), the control sleeve (25) and the recess (24; 24') in the valve body (5) being configured such that the deformation of the control sleeve (25) and valve body (5) as a result of the pressure in the pressure chamber (26; 26') causes no or only very little movement between the valve seat (28; 28'; 28'') and the sealing surface (27; 27'; 27'') of the control sleeve (25).
