An aspect of the present invention provides a testing device, a testing system including the same, and a method for controlling the testing device, wherein the contamination of the testing device caused by a sample and a decrease in the reliability of a test result caused thereby can be prevented by rapidly determining and discharging an abnormal insertion of a microfluidic device in the testing device. The testing device for testing a sample accommodated in a microfluidic device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an optical sensor which photographs images in a position corresponding to the microfluidic device; and a control unit which detects patterns formed in the microfluidic device from the photographed images and determines if the characteristics of the detected patterns coincide with the characteristics of pre-saved patterns, wherein it is determined that the microfluidic device is not normally inserted if the characteristics do not coincide.
