System and method of generating a view for a point of interest

Systems and methods are provided for manually finding a view for a geographic object in a street level image and associating the view with the geographic object. Information related to a geographic object and a first image related to the geographic object is displayed. User inputs indicating a presence of the geographic object in the image and user input indicating a viewpoint within the image are received and processed. An association of the viewpoint, the image and the geographic object is made and the association is stored in a database. A second image is determined, based on the association, as a default initial image to be displayed for the geographic object in a mapping application.

1. A method of generating a view for a geographic object, the method comprising:
providing, with one or more processors, information related to a geographic object and a first image related to the geographic object on an electronic display; receiving, with the one or more processors, user input indicating a presence of the geographic object in the first image; determining, with the one or more processors based on user manipulation of the first image with respect to the geographic object, a viewpoint within the first image, the user manipulation including one or more user operations comprising at least one of (i) yaw, pitch, zoom operations, and (ii) bounding-box drawing operations; associating, with the one or more processors, the viewpoint, the first image and the information related to the geographic object; and storing, with the one or more processors, the association in a database.
