PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device capable of determining reverse travel of a vehicle during starting-up at proper timing matching to feeling of a driver.SOLUTION: A hybrid ECU 30 sets a threshold Vth corresponding to vehicle speed V0 when a shift range is switched to a D range or an R range, and determines that the vehicle reverses when vehicle speed V in a reverse direction of a travel direction instructed by the shift range is generated and an absolute value |V| of the vehicle speed V reaches to equal to or more than the threshold Vth. |
