The present invention relates to: a polycarbonate resin that has transparency, heat resistance, and mechanical properties, which are same with or better than those of a prior polycarbonate resin obtained by using raw materials derived from petroleum, even though the polycarbonate is synthesized with raw materials derived from plants; a method for manufacturing the polycarbonate resin obtained by using the raw materials derived from the plants; a molded product of the polycarbonate resin synthesized by using the raw materials derived from the plants; a diol compound for synthesizing the polycarbonate resin; and a method for producing the diol compound for polycarbonate resin.
