PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a light-emitting device capable of suitably joining components.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing a light-emitting device including a light-emitting element and an optical member. This method comprises the steps of: (i) forming a hydroxyl group film on each joint surface of the light-emitting element and the optical member by an atomic layer deposition method; and (ii) mutually joining the joint surfaces on which the hydroxyl group film is formed. The step (i) includes repeating a sub-step of sequentially supplying at least a first material gas and a second material gas to the joint surfaces at least once. The step (ii) includes joining the joint surfaces without performing heat treatment.
