<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable gray level correction in accordance with a photographic scene while preventing image quality deterioration.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: acquisition means which acquires an image signal obtained by imaging a subject with an imaging part (101); a histogram calculation part (111) which obtains the luminance distribution of the imaged subject on the basis of the obtained image signal; division means (113, 114) which divides a region with a luminance lower than a predetermined luminance among the generated luminance distribution into a predetermined number of small regions, and obtains the most frequent region where the frequency of the luminance is maximum among the divided small regions; a dodging intensity selection part (115) which selects a gain table corresponding to the obtained most frequent region among a plurality of gain tables (107a) stored in a storage part (107); and a dodging part (118) which performs gray level correction processing on the image signal by using the selected gain table.</p> |
