Provided are a method for switching a coding mode, a sending end and a receiving end, which relate to the field of communications and can improve the user experience with the switching of a media content coding mode. The method comprises: a sending end acquiring state information about the sending end and/or a receiving end, wherein the state information comprises the CPU usage rate of the sending end and/or the receiving end, a network bandwidth, electric quantity information and media content information to be sent by the sending end; and judging whether the state information satisfies a preset condition or not, and if so, switching a media content coding mode, and then notifying the receiving end of the media content coding mode of the sending end, so as to facilitate the receiving end in determining a media content decoding mode according to the media content coding mode. The embodiments of the present invention are used for switching a coding mode. |
