The present invention resides in a steering knuckle (100) comprising a bearing connection interface (110) for connecting a wheel bearing to the knuckle and comprising further connection interfaces (130, 140) for connecting the knuckle to a further component, whereby the bearing connection interface and further connection interfaces are joined by a composite body (120) that is at least partly made of a composite material comprising fibre reinforcement. According to the invention, the composite body comprises an embedded sensing fibre (190).
