[Class 114.1 In a towing device more particularly designed for towing hydroplanes, two tow ropes C, C<1> are led from windlasses T on the tow-boat A through rings E on drifting floats D, D<1> to the craft G to be towed. The floats D, D<1>, which are connected to the tow-boat by ropes B, B<1>, are fitted with deep keels which under towing conditions tend to maintain the floats at a considerable distance apart and thus absorb variations in the tractive force. Weights P may also be strung on the tow ropes to increase this effect and to calm the sea, oil may be discharged from bags on the floats.</p> |
