<p>An electrical component housing comprises a hollow body 110 with an opening OS at one side. The body 110 includes a bottom B, a top D and two side walls AS1, AS2 adjacent to the opening OS and at least two electrical contacts 120a-f on the bottom of the housing body and at opposing sides of the housing and where at least one of the contacts 120a is adjacent the opening OS. At least one of the side walls AS1, AS2 may include a lead guidance arrangement 150 of two parallel projections forming a lead enclosing channel extending from the opening OS towards the opposite side of the housing. The said channel may run adjacent and parallel to the top D of the housing. The housing may include a rear side GS which is curved to follow the curvature of a toroidal coil which may be received in the housing. The housing may be moulded in a single-piece and provided with through hole contacts which are suitable for surface mounting a component and its housing. A filling compound may also be inserted into the housing. The housing may have extended creepage distances and air gaps which are suitable for a compact, surface mounting, high-voltage transformer operating at voltages of more than 1 kV and possibly test voltages of up to 9.5 kV.</p> |
