PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator liquefier that can refine a refrigerant gas during the continuation of the circulation and supply of the refrigerant gas to a refrigerator liquefier body, and to provide a method of operating the refrigerator liquefier. SOLUTION: The refrigerator liquefier includes: a compressor 12 which circulates and supplies the refrigerant gas to the refrigerator liquefier body 11; a bypass passage 15 which connects the discharge side and the suction side of the compressor via a bypass valve 15V; a gas storage vessel 13 which is connected to the suction side of the compressor via a gas introduction passage 17 having a load valve 17V, and connected to the discharge side of the compressor via a gas lead-out passage 16 having an unload valve 16V; a gas refiner 14 which is connected to the discharge side and the suction side of the compressor, respectively, via gas refining passages; a suction pressure controller 22 which detects compressor suction pressure and controls the bypass valve in an opening and closing manner; a discharge pressure controller 19 which detects compressor discharge pressure and split-controls the unload valve and the load valve; and a refining operation controller which brings either or both the unload valve and the load valve into valve-opened sates.
