PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a secondary excitation converter by predictively detecting an overvoltage before occurrence of the overvoltage at a secondary side of a winding type induction generator motor.SOLUTION: A secondary excitation converter protection device 1 comprises: voltage detection means 20 which detects a voltage between a secondary side of a winding type induction generator motor 3 and an output side of a secondary excitation converter 4 and converts the detected voltage into a voltage value; secondary-side abnormality determination means 10 for determining a voltage abnormality just before achieving an overvoltage between output sides on the basis of the detected voltage value; and breaker control means 30 which transmits a control command to operate a secondary-side breaker 6 and a short-circuit breaker 7 on the basis of the determination of the voltage abnormality.
