The purpose of the present invention is to provide a stress history measurement method and a stress sensor which enable the stress history in an object being measured to be measured easily and with high precision over a wide stress measurement range. In this stress history measurement method, with regard to an object being measured, which has a stress sensor embedded therein by a large number of calcite particles and can be elastically deformed in response to external forces, the history of stress to which the object being measured has been subjected is measured on the basis of the proportion of calcite particles in which deformation twinning has occurred after the object being measured has been subjected to an external force. The stress sensor is formed by solidifying a large number of calcite particles with a resin, with adjacent particles touching each other.
