PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for economically and efficiently purifying dimethylsulfoxide so as to satisfy specifications of the United States Pharmacopeia and reduce odor.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for purifying dimethylsulfoxide by bringing 100 pts.wt. of raw material dimethylsulfoxide into contact with activated carbon in the presence of 20 pts.wt. or more of water to distillate at 130°C or less.
