PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification method of carbonic ester capable of removing easily a trace amount of impurity showing absorption in a visible range, contained in the carbonic ester. SOLUTION: In this purification method of carbonic ester, the carbonic ester is brought into contact with an H-type strongly acidic cation exchange resin. The total sum of cationic species contained in the carbonic ester to be brought into contact with the H-type strongly acidic cation exchange resin is preferably≤1,000 mass ppm. A circulation condition when the carbonic ester is brought into contact with the strongly acidic cation exchange resin is preferably in the range shown as follows: (a) the circulation speed (SV) is≥1 and≤200, (b) the circulation temperature is 0°C-80°C.
