A method and an apparatus (20) for displaying metadata on a display are described, as well as a method and an apparatus (40) for providing such metadata for display. A mobile device (20) optically captures (10) an image displayed on a main screen. The captured image is sent (11) to a remote application, which compares (31) the image with images in a database (43) to retrieve a reference image. Based on the reference image the application retrieves (32) metadata associated to the reference image and generates (33) homography data. The metadata and the homography data are sent (34) back to the mobile device (20), which displays (13) the metadata on a display (21) in accordance with the homography data.
