A method and apparatus for logging data received from log sources, e.g. user equipment, in a mobile communications network simulation test system (fig.1). The apparatus comprises a processor to format the received data into a log file data format encoded with a unique record identifier encoded in the log file data format. The unique record identifier identifies and associates between data of records of a first record, e.g. radio link control (RLC) data record, originating from a first protocol data unit (PDU) layer 130, such as an OSI physical layer, and a second record, e.g. media access control (MAC) data record, originating from a second PDU layer 132, such as an OSI data link layer or network layer, different from the first PDU layer 130. The received data may be downlink data, passing from the second PDU layer 132 to the first PDU layer 130, or may be uplink data, passing from the first PDU layer 130 to the second PDU layer 132. |
