PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cultivation method for plants of the genus Glycyrrhiza, wherein the method is not affected by weather, is capable of including at least a prescribed amount of an active ingredient in a short period of time, allows for easy harvesting and post-harvest processing, and has excellent cost performance.SOLUTION: A cultivation method includes the steps of: covering a ridge of a prescribed height in an open field with a sheet impervious to water; installing, on the ridge through an installation hole in the sheet, a cultivation support cylinder that has a length between 100 mm and 300 mm, has one or more openings in the bottom plate, and is filled with nutrient-rich cultivation soil; planting a plant of the genus Glycyrrhiza in the cultivation support cylinder; controlling the moisture inside the ridge by blocking rainwater with the sheet; inhibiting the stolon growth of the plant of the genus Glycyrrhiza in the horizontal direction with the side walls of the cultivation support cylinder; making roots of the plant of the genus Glycyrrhiza grow, the root growing vertically, through the one or more bottom plate openings, inside the ridge in which moisture is controlled; and mainly enlarging the root (taproot) as well as side roots branched therefrom. |
