PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and compositions for treating colitis and other inflammatory bowel diseases, such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome and ischemic colitis.SOLUTION: A composition contains a HIF-1α prolyl hydroxylase inhibitor, particularly, a 3-hydroxy-2-pyridone derivative represented by the compound in the figure or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof. Preferably in terms of solubility, the derivative is provided in the form of a methanesulfonyl salt. |
