[Class 38 (v).] Where the tumblers or operating dollys of electric tumbler switches are moulded from synthetic resin or like material, the knobs or handle portion and the base or skirt portion are moulded separately and are subsequently united either by heat treatment, mechanical means or a combination of these methods. As shown in Fig. 1 a and b represent the two portions which consist of separate mouldings. Between these portions is placed a washer-like member c of uncured or partially cured reinforced synthetic resin or the like and the whole is moulded together. The lower moulding forming the skirt portion may have moulded therein a securing member for attaching thereto a U-shaped switch-actuating member and such projection may be arranged to extend into the upper member as shown in Fig. 4. In such an arrangement the two portions may be united solely by the screw d'. The lower end of the screw d<1> carries bifurcated projections d which may be riveted over to secure the switchactuating member e. The latter is prevented from twisting round by projections f formed on the underside of the skirt portion. The upper or handle portion a may be recessed into the lower or skirt portion (Fig. 5, not shown). |
