<p>Abstract An alarm system (10) is disclosed for transmitting data over a data network (14) at a monitored site (12). The alarm system (10) may include at least two alarm panels (18, 19) operatively connected to the data network (14) and connected to one another by an alternate data path (30). The alarm panels (18, 19) may be configured to communicate with one another via the data network (14) if the data network (14) is able to facilitate such communication. The alarm panels (18, 19) may further be configured to communicate with one another via the alternate data path (30) if the data network (14) is not able to facilitate such communication. A method of operating the disclosed system is also disclosed.</p> |
