PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved spinal arthroplasty device that avoids drawbacks and disadvantages of a known implant.SOLUTION: An artificial vertebral joint for interposition between a superior vertebra and an inferior vertebra comprises a pair of bilateral joint subcomponents. Each joint subcomponent includes a superior component 33a including a superior vertebra engaging surface and an inferior component 33b including an inferior vertebra engaging surface. Each joint subcomponent further includes a spacer 31 extending between the superior component and the inferior component. The spacer has a first modulus of elasticity and a second modulus of elasticity. The first modulus of elasticity transitions to the second modulus of elasticity with a gradient change. |
