Provided is a communication system in which a base station device reports a measurement setting to a mobile station device, said measurement setting indicating the setting for a measurement that employs a reference signal. The measurement settings include at least a first measurement setting in which measurement is carried out using a cell-specific reference signal, and a second measurement setting in which measurement is carried out using a channel state information reference signal. On the basis of the measurement setting that is reported from the base station device, the mobile station device determines whether the measurement setting is the first measurement setting or the second measurement setting.
