PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode active material which has a satisfactory initial charging/discharging property and improved cycle durability.SOLUTION: A method of producing a cathode active material is provided which includes the steps of: calcining a mixture of a precursor which does not contain Ki and contains at least one selected from among Co, Ni and Mn, and a Li compound; and performing ozonization on the Li-containing compound oxide obtained in the calcining step, where a difference between a peak position of a plane (113) of 2&thetas;=68 to 70° in an XRD chart of the resultant cathode active material and the peak position of a cathode active material which is produced without being ozonized is 0.01 to 0.1°. A method of producing a cathode active material is also provided which includes the steps of performing ozonization on the precursor; and calcining a mixture of the ozonized precursor and the Li compound, where a difference between the peak position of the resultant cathode active material and the peak position of a cathode active material which is produced without being ozonized is 0.01 to 0.1°. |
