A display substrate includes a data line disposed on a base substrate, a first pixel electrode disposed at a first side of the data line, a second pixel electrode disposed at a second side of the data line and a storage electrode overlapping with the data line. The storage electrode overlaps with the first pixel electrode by a first overlapping width, and overlaps with the second pixel electrode by a second overlapping width larger than the first overlapping width.

a first substrate; and a second substrate facing the first substrate and comprising:
a base substrate;a data line disposed on the base substrate and extending in a first direction;a gate line disposed on the base substrate and extending in a second direction;a switching element having a source electrode electrically connected to the data line, and a drain electrode spaced apart from the source electrode;a first pixel electrode disposed at a first side of the data line, in a plan view of the base substrate; anda second pixel electrode disposed at a second side of the data line, wherein the drain electrode includes a first portion extending in a third direction, and a second portion extending in a fourth direction different from the third direction, and at least a portion of the first portion contacts the first pixel electrode.
