Disclosed are pitch control system and method for a wind power generator. The pitch control system for the wind power generator which has a plurality of blades connected to a rotor to be able to rotate, includes: a plurality of pitch motors which are respectively mounted to correspond to the blades, to rotate a pitch angle of each blade; a plurality of pitch inverters which are respectively mounted to correspond to the pitch motors, to operate each pitch motor; a plurality of variable brake units which apply a braking force to the blade corresponding to an uncontrollable pitch inverter, when it is impossible to control the pitch inverters due to a malfunction of one of the pitch inverters; and a pitch controlling unit for synchronizing feathering speed of the blade to which the braking force is applied through the variable brake unit, with feathering speed of the remaining blades. The variable brake unit controls the braking force in such a way that the blade to which the braking force is applied moves toward a feathering position while reducing pitch angle rotation speed of the blade to which the braking force is applied. |
