PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing exposure control in response to a change in the luminance of a subject while suitably performing dynamic range expansion.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: imaging means for imaging a subject and outputting an image; and control means for periodically and continuously outputting as a set for use in synthesis a first image and a second image under an exposure condition different from that of the first image which are photographed by the imaging means. The imaging apparatus is configured to control exposure by changing a light quantity adjustment member for adjusting the light quantity of light incident on the imaging means, and includes determination means for determining an amount of variation of exposure between images when the light quantity adjustment member is being changed. The determination means determines the amount of variation so that a magnitude relation of exposure between the first image and the second image to make a set for synthesis which are photographed when the light quantity adjustment member is not being changed is maintained between the first image and the second image to make a set for synthesis which are photographed when the light quantity adjustment member is being changed. |
