PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas water heater appropriately achieving reduction in the cost thereof without forcing elaborate judgement onto a user of the gas water heater. SOLUTION: The gas water heater includes: a bathtub hot water quantity detector S5 which detects hot water quantity in a bathtub; and a discriminator H1 which discriminates whether there is hot water in the bathtub or not based on detection information of the bathtub hot water quantity detector S5. The gas water heater further includes a cost calculator H2 which, when the discriminator H1 discriminates that there is hot water in the bathtub, performs cost calculation processing for calculating the cost upon heating bathtub water, the cost being required for performing a bathtub storage hot water operation so that the bathtub hot water quantity becomes a set target hot water quantity and bathtub hot water temperature becomes the set target hot water temperature from such a state that the there is hot water in the bathtub, and which calculates the cost upon hot water filling, the cost being required for performing the bathtub storage hot water operation so that the bathtub hot water quantity becomes the set target hot water quantity and the bathtub hot water temperature becomes the set target hot water temperature from such a state that there is not the hot water in the bathtub.
