Apparatus for super-resolution imaging, and methods of fabricating the apparatus, are disclosed. The apparatus comprises an optical element comprising a thin film, and one or more lenses for super-resolution imaging integrally formed in the film. The optical element can be formed by spin-coating the film on a mould shaped to form the one or more lenses integrally in the film. A support member, which may be in the form of a rigid ring surrounding the region in which the lenses are formed, can be affixed to the film to support the film during use. The support member can be arranged to hold the film under tension by lifting the optical element away from the mould before the solvent used during spin-coating has fully evaporated, so that the film shrinks and becomes held under tension by the support member. |
