<p>A power converter circuit has a first transistor Q1 connected with a positive node PV+ and a negative node PV- of a photovoltaic panel 101 and a second transistor switch Q2 being connected with the first transistor Q1 and the negative node PV- of the photovoltaic panel 101. A first controller circuit CC1 measures the voltage at a reference node 201 and adjusts the gate voltage of the first and second transistors Q1, Q2. A third transistor Q3 is connected with the reference node 201 and an output node B+ and a second controller circuit CC2 is configured to control the gate voltage of the third transistor Q3. The Voltage measurement node 201 is connected to the second transistor Q2 through an LC network. The first controller CC1 turns off the first and second transistors Q1, Q2 when the voltage at the reference node 201 exceeds a predetermined threshold. The second controller CC2 is prevents current from being fed back through the LC network. The converter may be a modified SEPIC converter and may be used to charge batteries in a solar panel system and the threshold voltage may be slightly greater than the voltage of a fully charged battery. The system may improve ease of design and installation.</p> |
