An image pickup apparatus includes an image pickup element (41); a heat dissipating member (42) including a heat dissipating portion (42a) and thermally connected to the image pickup element (41); a housing (23) that retains the image pickup element (41) and the heat dissipating member (42) such that the image pickup element (41) and the heat dissipating member (42) are movable, the housing (23) having an opening (25) at which the heat dissipating portion (42a) is exposed irrespective of the position of the image pickup element (41) and the heat dissipating member (42) in a movable range; a fan (32) that generates an airflow; and a duct (31) that forms an air flow channel that directs the airflow generated by the fan (32) toward the opening (25) . |
