PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera for selecting a part of an image and a method of monitoring a scene for a specific type of processing.SOLUTION: A method of monitoring a scene by a camera 7 contains a step of marking a part 14 of a scene with a predetermined spectral content and a space check pattern. A scene is imaged by a sensor having high sensitivity to the predetermined spectral content to obtain an analysis image. The analysis image is divided based on the predetermined spectral content to find a candidate image area. A spatial pattern is detected in the candidate image area, and the feature of the detected spatial pattern and the corresponding feature of the space check pattern are compared with each other. When the features are matched with each other, the candidate image area is identified as a checked image area corresponding to the marked part 14 of the scene, image data representing the scene are obtained, the image data corresponding to the checked image area are processed in a first mode, and the residual image data are processed in a second mode. |
