PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flying shear cut length determination apparatus configured to properly set cut length of a steel plate to be cut, to enable precise cutting.SOLUTION: A tip Ws of a steel plate W to be conveyed is captured over a range of cut length L at an output side of a flying shear 4. Position information of the tip Ws of the steel plate is acquired by image processing, from an image of the steel plate W captured. On the basis of the acquired sequential position information of the steel plate tip Ws, an arrival time t1 when a predetermined position to cut the steel plate W arrives a cut position Xo of the flying shear 4 is estimated. On the basis of the estimated arrival time t1, the flying shear 4 starts pressing by means of a rotary cutter.
