PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a sound generator for a vehicle, in particular, to reduce a risk of breakage of the sound generator in passing through a place in the presence of water.SOLUTION: A sound generator 1 for an exhaust system 2 of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle 3 includes: a housing 4; at least one electroacoustic converter 5 disposed in the housing 4 and having a vibration plate 6 for separating a rear space 9 from a front space 10 in the housing 4; and a connection pipe 11 for connecting the sound generator 1 to an exhaust pipe 12 for carrying an exhaust gas of the housing 2. The connection pipe 11 continuously and reliably connects the front space 10 to the exhaust pipe 12 fluidically and acoustically in a connected state. In order to reduce a risk of damage to the vibration plate 6, for example, in a case where the housing 4 becomes flooded, a pressure equalization pipe 15 may be connected to the housing 4 on the outside by a proximal end 16, and connected fluidically to the rear space 9 through an opening 18 of the housing, and a terminal end 17 of the pressure equalization pipe 15 may be located at a spaced location from the housing 4. |
