PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an OS operating state confirmation system or the like capable of recognizing the cause of communication disconnection from a confirmation object device and the seriousness of the problem at a remote place. SOLUTION: The confirmation object device 20 includes main arithmetic control means 21, a BMC 24 that operates separately from the main arithmetic control means 21, storing means for storing a SEL 210 accessible from both the main arithmetic control means 21 and the BMC 24, and a life-and-death detecting part for adding processed information to an event that is newly added to the SEL while an OS operates, and the BMC transmits life-and-death detection information to the event added to the SEL after the elapse of a delay time in the case that the processed information is not added. An OS operating state confirmation device 10 has a life-and-death detection information determining part 104 for making a ping transmitting part transmit a ping in the case of receiving the life-and-death detection information, and a malfunction cause determining part 105 for determining that an operating system of the confirmation object device is in an overloaded state in the case of receiving a reply to the ping.
