A filter press includes a press frame containing side beams (2) to support filter plates (17) movably along the longitudinal axis of the side beams (2). A pressure plate (4) can be moved along the longitudinal axis of the side beams (2) by a pushing or pulling device, and which presses the filter plates of the sliding carriage (3) against one another during the filtration process.
