<p>Disclosed are a treating agent for an oxidizing agent-containing waste water or a purifying agent for an organic solvent, a method for treating an oxidizing agent-containing waste water or a method for purifying an organic solvent, and an apparatus for treating an oxidizing agent-containing waste water or an apparatus for purifying an organic solvent that are adopted for the treatment of waste water containing an oxidizing agent used in washing, for example, in semiconductor manufacturing plants, or for the purification of an organic solvent. The treating agent or the purifying agent comprises an activated carbon that has an average particle diameter of 0.3 to 1.00 mm, a volume of pores having diameters of 50 to 22500 nm of not more than 0.10 mL/g as measured by a mercury penetration method, a volume peak of pores having a diameter of not less than 50 nm at pore diameters of 100 to 400 nm, a specific surface area of not less than 1300 m2/g as measured by a BET method, a packing density of not less than 0.55 g/mL, and an ignition residue of not more than 0.5% by mass. The method for treating the waste water or the method for purifying an organic solvent comprises bringing the activated carbon into contact with a treating agent for an oxidizing agent-containing waste water or a purifying agent for an organic solvent. The apparatus for treating the waste water or the apparatus for purifying an organic solvent comprises the activated carbon so as to be contactable with the treating agent for the oxidizing agent-containing waste water or the purifying agent for the organic solvent.</p> |
